Companies involved in the products, services and/or research and development including applied computer systems, computer hardware and software,information systems, multimedia, networking and telecommunications and human interactivity all are considered for this sector.
HISTORY
In both Regina and Saskatoon several ITC companies developed during each of the four waves of change in the computer industry, namely the mainframe, minicomputer, PC LANs and internet eras.
Spin-off companies from the U of S include:
- SED Systems Inc.
- Pakwa Engineering
- Scientific Instruments Ltd.
- Sci-Tech Instruments Ltd.
- Saskatoon Machine Works to name but a few.
More recently several successful ITC companies have evolved from the College of Engineering at the U of S including:
- Wavecom Electronics
- International Road Dynamics.
TRLabs is Canada’s largest information and communication research consortium. industry.
Programs with the two provincial universities and the Saskatchewan Institute of Applies Science and Technology provide a steady stream for well trained students for the industry.
