History

The concept of the TechMap originated in the Ottawa, Ontario region of Canada. The new TechMap projects take the original concept of Denny Doyle's Genealogy of Ottawa High Tech companies to new levels of analysis and understanding. PricewaterhouseCoopers adopted the TechMap concept and expanded it to other regions of Canada and to the Web.

PwC Canada has produced seven Techmaps:

  • British Columbia (1997)
  • Ontario: Ottawa (1998), Kitchener-Waterloo (1999), Toronto (2000)
  • Quebec: Montreal and Quebec City (2000)
  • Alberta: Calgary and Edmonton (2000)
  • Saskatchewan's ScienceMap which is the first web site partnership with Hamilton Myriadgate Technology

PricewaterhouseCoopers and Hamilton Myriadgate are working together in partnership in an effort to deliver future printed maps and web sites as a complete package designed to fulfill the needs of today's Economic Development environment.
